The Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups is tightening its internal performance standards as part of a broader push to improve service delivery, following new directives issued by Minister Dr Dorothy Gwajima.
Speaking during a meeting with ministry staff on November 25, 2025, at the Mtumba Government City offices, Dr Gwajima said the ministry must operate with stronger discipline, clearer systems and a renewed commitment to meeting public expectations.
She said the ministry’s guiding theme, “Kazi na Utu, Tunasonga Mbele,” requires measurable results and higher accountability at every level of service provision.
“Our responsibility is to ensure citizens receive timely and dignified service. This demands accountability across all departments. Where performance slows or systems fail, we must review them immediately and support staff to improve,” she said.
Dr Gwajima noted that as the ministry works with diverse groups in society, effective service delivery depends on strong internal coordination and simplified processes that reduce frustration among citizens.
“The public seeks solutions, not long procedures. Strengthen communication, cut unnecessary delays and ensure our institutions become centres of trust,” she added.
Deputy Minister Maryprisca Mahundi urged staff to embrace a collective work ethic and maintain professionalism, saying improved efficiency directly contributes to community wellbeing.
“When we work together with responsibility and purpose, we deliver services that uplift families and communities,” she said.
Permanent Secretary Dr John Jingu reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to implement the new directives, adding that ongoing institutional reforms will focus on effectiveness, transparency and building public confidence.
