The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has renewed its collaboration with key stakeholders in the forestry and beekeeping sectors as part of efforts to strengthen conservation, improve resource management, and address persistent challenges undermining the sectors’ potential.

Speaking in Dodoma during the opening of a stakeholders’ workshop, the Acting Director of the Forestry and Beekeeping Department, Mr. Daniel C. Pancras, said the meeting aimed at building a shared understanding of sustainable strategies that will drive sectoral growth and enhance national socio-economic development.

Mr. Pancras noted that forestry and beekeeping contribute significantly to job creation, as well as to the national economy.

“Despite the remarkable contributions of these sectors, there are still key challenges that must be addressed. This workshop is therefore crucial in shaping joint strategies that will strengthen performance and deliver meaningful impact,” he said.

He emphasized that the proposed strategies must align with the National Development Vision 2050, in expanding value-added industries for forest products and honey, hence promoting sustainable forest management.

Mr. Pancras encouraged the conservation and tourism sector to participate actively in the Serengeti Awards, a national platform that recognizes its outstanding contributions.

He urged stakeholders to serve as ambassadors by raising awareness and encouraging wider participation.

Participants at the workshop included representatives from the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS), Tanzania Forest Fund (TaFF), training institutions under the Ministry, Tanzania Beekeepers Development Organization (TABEDO), the Regional Commissioners’ Offices of Dodoma and Morogoro, the National Housing Corporation (NHC), and the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board.
