Azam FC has vowed to respond strongly when it hosts Wydad Casablanca on November 28 in its second CAF Confederation Cup group-stage match at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.
The Chamazi-based side is seeking redemption after dropping points in its opening group fixture. The team arrived in Zanzibar early to finalize preparations and acclimatize ahead of the high-stakes encounter against one of North Africa’s most formidable clubs.
Azam FC’s Communications Officer, Hasheem Ibwe, said the players understand the magnitude of the challenge but remain confident in their ability to deliver a positive result at home.
“We are aware that our opponents won their first group match and will come with high morale. Wydad is a strong team with a good record, and beating them is never an easy task,” Ibwe said.
He stressed, however, that Azam has put in serious work to ensure it starts its home campaign with authority.
“We have prepared thoroughly and are determined to give our fans something to smile about. We believe in our squad’s quality, and we are ready to surprise anyone who doubts us,” he added.
Azam is banking on home support, tactical discipline, and renewed motivation to secure its first points in the competition.
