Why Yanga failed to score against Mbeya City at Sokoine

 By Flora Mkoloma

Yanga SC head coach Romain Folz has blamed the challenging conditions of Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya for his team’s failure to score in their goalless draw against Mbeya City.

Speaking after the match, Folz said that while the team had prepared thoroughly, the pitch did not suit their style of play, making it difficult to convert scoring opportunities into goals.

“The biggest challenge was the pitch. The conditions were very different from what we had prepared for, even though we did enough preparation,” Folz said.

Despite creating chances, Yanga could not find the back of the net, costing them three vital points in the Tanzanian Premier League standings.

Mbeya City head coach Malale Hamsini expressed satisfaction with earning a point, although his side had aimed for a home victory.

“We prepared to win, as every coach does. No one goes into a match planning to lose. But we thank God for securing one point,” Hamsini said.

The draw leaves both teams reflecting on missed opportunities as the league continues to heat up.
