Tanzanians living in the United States are being urged to play a bigger role in the country’s economic growth through strategic investments.
The call was made by the Tanzania Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) in collaboration with the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA), DICOTA USA, the National Insurance Corporation (NIC), Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB), Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB), and the Public-Private Partnership Centre (PPPC).
The appeal came during a special investment forum held in Dallas, Texas, which brought together more than 60 Tanzanians from different parts of the U.S.
The event highlighted how the diaspora can contribute to national development by investing in sectors that drive jobs, innovation, and industrial growth.
The forum included government officials, private sector leaders, and financial experts. Participants were introduced to investment opportunities in agriculture, mining, housing, insurance, and financial services. Special investment clinics gave practical guidance to prospective diaspora investors.
Diaspora members expressed strong interest in contributing to Tanzania’s growth, particularly in agriculture and industrial ventures.
They applauded recent reforms but urged authorities to simplify procedures and create more diaspora-friendly policies.
Recommendations included setting up a dedicated diaspora desk at TISEZA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offering targeted investment incentives, and organizing a “Diaspora Homecoming 2026.”
Officials said engaging the diaspora is not just about investment but also about strengthening partnerships that can drive innovation and sustainable development.
The forum emphasized that Tanzanians abroad are strategic partners in shaping the country’s future.
By connecting the diaspora with opportunities and services at home, the forum reinforced Tanzania’s commitment to inclusive economic growth and showcased the diaspora as a key force in the nation’s development journey.
