Tanzania is set to generate 10,000 megawatts of electricity by 2030 to meet the country’s growing social, economic, and industrial needs, officials announced at the opening of the Ninth Solar Energy Exhibition in Dar es Salaam.

The Director of Environment at the Ministry of Energy, Emilian Nyanda, said the initiative is part of the government’s commitment to Vision 2050, which aims to ensure adequate and reliable electricity supply across the country.

“Today, Tanzania has developed a strategy to expand the use of clean energy. These initiatives create opportunities for the private sector to invest in renewable energy and drive sustainable development,” Nyanda said.

He added that promoting clean cooking energy remains a priority, providing further opportunities for businesses under the 2025 Clean Energy Policy.

Osica Kisanga, Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), emphasized that the exhibition allows Tanzanians to learn from global innovations in solar energy.

“Our partners from Germany, for example, have brought advanced solar technologies. Tanzanians should seize these opportunities to adopt modern energy solutions,” Kisanga said.

He also thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s government for creating a supportive business environment that enables international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

This year’s exhibition attracted participants from 25 countries, showcasing cutting-edge solar energy technologies and investment opportunities for Tanzania’s renewable energy sector in 2025.
