The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) officially launched its mobile application, “TANAPA GO,” today, October 8, 2025, at Mikumi National Park.
The app aims to expand the scope of tourism by making information about attractions across all national parks in Tanzania easily accessible.
Speaking at the launch, the Guest of Honor,Parmanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbas, commended TANAPA’s efforts to promote tourism through technology, particularly mobile devices, while highlighting global smartphone and internet usage statistics.
“The world has a population of eight billion people, with over five billion using mobile phones, 87% of whom own smartphones. Globally, 5.7 billion people are internet users.
This app comes at a crucial time, addressing our major challenge of marketing Tanzania’s tourism globally.
It will simplify many processes for us, help identify investment opportunities across all national parks, and provide official information about each park in a user-friendly manner,” he said.
The Chairman of TANAPA’s Board of Trustees, Retired Chief of Defence Forces General George Waitara, noted that the app will enhance efficiency in tourism and conservation activities and praised the organization’s management for embracing modern technology.
“I have always said that nothing is impossible if you are bold and determined. I commend TANAPA’s management for this innovative app. ‘TANAPA GO’ will strengthen the organization’s performance, delivering services and information quickly and efficiently to visitors both within and outside the country. You have done remarkable work, and the Board of Trustees congratulates you,” he said.
Earlier, TANAPA’s Deputy Commissioner for Conservation and Business Development, Masana Mwishawa, described the app as a significant bridge in promoting and advancing the conservation and tourism sectors.
The “TANAPA GO” app will broaden access to information about the national parks, making it easier for tourists planning to visit or currently visiting Tanzania’s protected areas.
