TADB boosts youth agripreneurs ahead of customer service week 2025

The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has stepped up its community engagement drive ahead of this year’s Customer Service Week by supporting Wazito Farm Flex, a youth-led horticulture initiative, with modern farming equipment, inputs and pesticides.

The move is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, reflecting its mandate to empower farmers and expand opportunities for young people in agribusiness.

Customer Service Week, observed globally in the second week of October, provides an opportunity for institutions to highlight their commitment to service excellence and community impact.

In addition to the donation, TADB has arranged an exposure visit for members of Wazito Farm Flex to Zanzibar, where they will interact with young farmers who have successfully scaled up horticultural ventures.

The study tour is expected to enhance their knowledge of agribusiness practices, foster peer-to-peer learning and strengthen their capacity to operate commercially.

Wazito Farm Flex is a group of seven university graduates united by the goal of building careers in agriculture.

The group was identified and mentored through TADB Mikoani, a programme designed to extend banking literacy and unlock agricultural financing opportunities, particularly for women and youth.

The initiative has already yielded tangible impact: the group has employed 20 additional youths from the surrounding community, contributing to job creation and local economic growth.

By supporting such initiatives, TADB underscores the role of financial institutions not only in providing credit but also in nurturing inclusive agribusiness ecosystems that absorb young talent.

Analysts note that such interventions align with the government’s broader strategy of promoting youth employment through agriculture, a sector that employs the majority of Tanzanians but remains undercapitalised.

With growing interest among graduates in commercial farming, initiatives like Wazito Farm Flex could become important models for integrating innovation, finance and rural development.
