Simba to resume camp Monday ahead of CAF Champions League tie

Simba Sports Club has announced that the squad will return to camp on Monday as they gear up for their CAF Champions League second preliminary round fixture against Nsingizini Hotspurs of Eswatini.

The players are currently on a short rest following their 3-0 victory over Namungo in the NBC Premier League last week.

The league has been temporarily paused to allow national teams to take part in the ongoing FIFA international break.

According to Simba’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, players not involved in international duty will rejoin the team next week, while those representing their countries will link up later once their assignments are complete.

“We expect the players to come back refreshed, motivated, and in good shape for the Champions League preparations. By the time we resume training, we will have a new head coach, a goalkeeping coach, and other technical staff in place,” said Ally.

Providing an injury update, Ally revealed that Mohamed Bajaber and Mousa Camara are expected to rejoin full training in the coming days.

However, defender Abdurazak Hamza remains sidelined, as he is still recovering from a long-term injury. He is expected to make his return in December after being out of action for eight months.

On the domestic front, Simba has enjoyed a strong start to the Premier League campaign, winning their first two matches 3-0 against Fountain Gate and Namungo, collecting six points.

“Against Fountain Gate, we did not play at our very best, but we still had opportunities to score more goals. The Namungo match was more controlled, and even two goals would have been enough. Winning 3-0 in both games shows the quality and ambition of the squad,” Ally noted.

Simba, a four-time CAF Champions League semi-finalist, will now turn their full attention to the continental stage as they aim to qualify for the group phase.

Their opponents, Nsingizini Hotspurs, are relatively new to the competition, which puts Simba in a favorable position but the Tanzanian giants are taking nothing for granted.
