The Fire and Rescue Force has appealed for closer collaboration with local associations in conducting rescue and swimming training programs, saying the initiatives are key to strengthening officers’ ability to respond to emergencies.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Friday, October 3, 2025, during a certificate handover ceremony for officers who completed a recent training, Ilala Regional Fire Officer, Mr. Michael Machubira, said the Force is committed to taking part in both local and international training to improve its capacity.

The training was organized in partnership with the Tanzania Rescue Association, which operates under the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA).

Mr. Machubira noted that the program had provided invaluable experience to the participating officers, adding that such opportunities were essential in ensuring that firefighters are well-prepared to handle incidents efficiently and professionally.

“These trainings are very important for us because they help strengthen the skills of our officers and expose them to practical experience. Our goal is to ensure our personnel are always ready to respond accurately whenever emergencies arise,” he said.

He called on TSA to sustain its cooperation with the Force, emphasizing the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise between the two institutions for the greater benefit of the public.

On her part, TSA Technical Director, Ms. Amina Mfaume, said a total of 26 participants benefited from the program, gaining both technical knowledge and practical skills that would improve their confidence and effectiveness in the field.
