Simba Queens have booked their place in the final of the 2025/26 Women’s Community Shield after a commanding 2-0 win over Mashujaa Queens in yesterday’s semi-final at KMC Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The match started with both teams pressing hard, creating chances early on. In the 33rd minute, Simba Queens broke the deadlock when Asha Omary struck, giving her team a vital lead.
The goal sparked an intense response from Mashujaa Queens, who tried to level the score but were unable to convert their chances. By halftime, Simba Queens held a 1-0 advantage.
In the 74th minute, Simba Queens doubled their lead through Aisha Mnunka, sealing a well-deserved 2-0 victory and sending their fans into celebrations.
Speaking after the match, Simba Queens coach Mohamed Mrishona said the game was challenging due to the match duration and the midday sun.
He praised Mashujaa Queens as a tough opponent, recalling how they had denied Simba Queens the Premier League title last season.
“Although we secured the win, we saw areas where we can improve, especially converting our chances. We will work on that and prepare thoroughly for the final,” Mrishona said.
Mashujaa Queens coach Ally Ally admitted that tactical changes and injuries to key defenders played a role in the defeat.
He added that the team had noted weaknesses to address in training ahead of the third-place playoff.
“The adjustments we made in our system created challenges, while Simba Queens capitalized on their opportunities effectively to score two goals,” Ally said.
Meanwhile, the semi-final between JKT Queens and Yanga Princess continues at KMC Complex Stadium, with the winner set to face Simba Queens in the final.
