The Regional Commissioner of Manyara, Queen Cuthbert Sendiga, has praised Franone Mining Ltd and Chusa Mining Ltd for their contribution to community development through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Mirerani town, Simanjiro District.
Speaking at Mazubu Grand Hotel to owners of Tanzanite mining companies, RC Sendiga highlighted the firms’ efforts in improving local health services.
He said Franone Mining Ltd has allocated TZS 80 million for the construction of a dispensary within the mining site, while Chusa Mining Ltd is building a maternity and children’s ward alongside a nurses’ office at Mirerani Health Center.
“I thank these companies for investing in health infrastructure that will benefit the community. I also urge all Tanzanite mining operators to step up their CSR contributions as required by law,” RC Sendiga said.
He noted that while several miners have supported CSR projects, more needs to be done to accelerate development in the Tanzanite mining areas.
Francis Matunda, a director at Franone Mining Ltd, said construction of the dispensary is set to begin on November 1, 2025. “Some construction materials have already been delivered, and work will start at the beginning of next month,” he said.
Joseph Mwakipesile Chusa, director of Chusa Mining Ltd, said construction of the maternity and children’s ward and the doctors’ office is progressing well. The project is expected to be completed and handed over to the government by the end of 2025.
