Community development officers to use motorbikes to boost efficiency

By Our Reporter, Rukwa

Community Development Officers in Rukwa Region have been urged to fully utilize newly provided motorbikes to improve efficiency in delivering services to residents.

Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Felister Mdemu, made the remarks on October 24, 2025, while handing over eight motorbikes to officers from the region’s councils.

Mdemu said the government, through the ministry, distributed the vehicles to four councils in Rukwa to empower ward-level officers to perform their duties more effectively and reach communities promptly.

“These motorbikes are crucial tools that will ease communication and monitoring of development activities in villages and wards,” Mdemu said.

She added that the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to enhance officers’ efficiency in educating citizens on development matters, boosting community participation in social projects, and promoting accountability at local government levels.

Acting Regional Administrative Secretary for Rukwa, Engineer Daudi Sebyiga, praised the move, noting that it will improve working conditions for community development staff.

He said the motorbikes would speed up service delivery and ensure that development education reaches residents on time.

The officers who received the motorbikes expressed gratitude to the government, noting that the vehicles would reduce transport challenges and help them implement their duties more efficiently in rural areas.
