Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on October 23, 2025, inspected the Nandagala Police Station under construction in Ruangwa District, Lindi Region, and directed that the facility begin operations by November 1.

During the visit, the Prime Minister instructed the District Executive Director, Frank Chonya, to ensure all necessary furniture and equipment are in place to enable the station to serve residents effectively.

“Residents expect this station to start operating. The buildings are ready; we only need chairs. Director, make sure we provide furniture and pave the surrounding area. Our goal is for the station to start work by November 1,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police John Imori, Lindi Regional Police Commander, said the project, initially funded with TZS 164 million for a Grade C police station, was expanded using the force account method.

This allowed the construction of officers’ houses and completion of all facilities with an additional TZS 30 million.

“The Prime Minister’s directive enabled us to complete three buildings, including two officers’ houses, using the allocated funds efficiently,” he said.

The TZS 194.3 million project is now 95% complete. Once operational, the station will provide policing services to residents of 32 villages across eight wards in Ruangwa District.

During the visit, Prime Minister Majaliwa also toured Liuguru Girls’ Secondary School, highlighting the Sixth Phase Government, led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for expanding educational opportunities for girls across the country.
