Police assure voters of full security ahead of October 29 General Election

The Tanzania Police Force has reassured the public of maximum security as the country prepares for the October 29 General Election, urging citizens to turn out in large numbers and exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear or intimidation.

Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Jumanne Muliro said on Wednesday that the force is working closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure peace, stability, and smooth coordination throughout the election period.

“We are fully prepared. Our officers will continue to monitor, prevent, detect, and neutralize any security threats that may arise during this crucial time,” said Commander Muliro.

 “Citizens should remain calm and confident as they head to the polls. This is your constitutional right go out and vote peacefully.”he added

He emphasized that police officers across the country have been instructed to uphold professionalism and impartiality, ensuring that every Tanzanian can cast their ballot in a secure environment.

Commander Muliro further urged political parties, candidates, and supporters to respect the law and adhere to INEC’s guidelines during campaigns and on election day. 

“We expect all parties to act responsibly and avoid any actions that could provoke unrest or disrupt the democratic process. Our goal is to safeguard lives, property, and national unity,” he added.

INEC has continued to finalize logistical preparations for the polls, including the distribution of election materials and coordination with security agencies. 

Authorities have also been emphasizing peace, civic responsibility, and cooperation as vital to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election.

Police units across the regions are expected to remain on high alert before, during, and after the polls to maintain public order and guarantee a peaceful voting process.
