The Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) has been commended for its outstanding and patriotic efforts in saving the lives of Tanzanians from the dangers of drug abuse.

Speaking during an interview with EFM Radio, the founder of the Pillimisana Foundation Sober Houses, Ms. Pillimisana, praised the DCEA for its visible and consistent actions that have significantly reduced the number of cocaine and heroin addicts across the country.

“The government is leading a major campaign against drugs, something we have never witnessed before. These are people who have decided to fight to save the lives of their fellow citizens. This is truly patriotic work, and at this rate, drug abuse could soon become history in Tanzania,” said Ms. Pillimisana.

She further noted that the continued spread of drugs poses a threat to the nation’s economic stability and leads to widespread social problems including diseases, poverty, family breakdowns, and general weakness within communities.

Speaking on EFM’s Joto la Asubuhi program, Ms. Pillimisana extended her appreciation to the DCEA Commissioner General, Mr. Aretas Lyimo, and his team for their relentless work.

“Just think about it, hardly a moment passes without a major drug bust or special operation being conducted. These officers are always on the ground; I honestly wonder when they even get time to sit in their offices. All of this is for the sake of rescuing young Tanzanians and protecting families across the country,” she said.

Ms. Pillimisana added that within the past few months, the DCEA has maintained consistent success in operations without any breaks, a testament to its commitment and discipline.

Her foundation's sober houses rescued hundreds to thousands of youth, adults and teens who were losing hopes on drugs and addictions, including recently celebrity acknowledged by many as Rasheed Abdallah 'Chid Benz' with the help of the Basata and DCEA

She concluded by noting that while the number of cocaine and heroin addicts has dropped significantly, the challenge of alcohol abuse remains an ongoing concern.
