Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has urged African and Nordic countries to ensure that their partnerships yield tangible benefits for citizens, stressing that cooperation must move beyond agreements on paper to deliver measurable impact.
Speaking at the 22nd African-Nordic Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Victoria Falls, Minister Kombo said the gathering offers a unique platform to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and social ties while promoting trade, investment, technology, and clean energy initiatives.
“This cooperation should not remain theoretical. We must turn opportunities into concrete actions that directly improve the lives of our people,” he said, highlighting Tanzania’s readiness to partner with Nordic countries on strategic projects with fast and visible results.
Tanzania’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, CP Suzan Kaganda, encouraged participants to leverage the meeting to advance economic diplomacy across sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, education, and security.
Similarly, Tanzania’s Ambassador to Sweden, Mobhare Matinyi, highlighted the country’s business and investment potential as a gateway for Nordic partnerships.
Acting Director of the Department of Europe and Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Seifu Kamtunda, emphasized that discussions would focus on key topics to strengthen Africa-Nordic relations.
A business forum will also bring together entrepreneurs, private sector actors, young innovators, and academic institutions to explore collaboration opportunities.
The two-day meeting, held from October 2–3, 2025, is themed “Innovation for Results: Harnessing Technology and Cooperation for Future-Ready Societies.”
Tanzanian institutions, including TIC, ZIPA, TCCIA, and departments within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are actively participating to showcase national priorities and foster economic and diplomatic partnerships with Nordic countries.
