The Hadzabe community in Mang’ola, Karatu District, Arusha Region, is preparing to make a strong showing in the upcoming General Election on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, reflecting a growing political awareness and commitment to exercising their constitutional right to vote.
Residents expressed gratitude to the government for ensuring their inclusion in the electoral process, despite living in remote areas with limited access to information.
They emphasized their determination to elect leaders who can bring meaningful development and address the unique needs of their community.
“On behalf of my fellow Hadzabe, I assure you we will go to the polls on October 29. We will vote for leaders who understand our way of life and can deliver development to our community. Living in remote areas, we are often unaware of many issues, so it is important to choose leaders who will prioritize our needs,” said one community member.
Ruben Mathayo, Chairman of the Hadzabe Community in Tanzania, and Mariam Anyanyire, a community mobilizer, noted that political awareness among Hadzabe residents has grown significantly.
They pledged that every eligible voter would participate, highlighting the community’s commitment to shaping its future through democratic engagement.
This election represents a milestone for the Hadzabe, historically marginalized and living on the peripheries of mainstream society.
Their active participation underscores a broader trend of political inclusion and empowerment among Tanzania’s indigenous populations.
