His Eminence Protase Cardinal Rugambwa, Archbishop of the Tabora Archdiocese, has called on Tanzanians to come together in prayer and solidarity to safeguard national peace as the country prepares for the General Election on October 29, 2025.
Speaking on October 24, 2025, during a prayer symposium in Tabora, which gathered faithful from various religious denominations, Cardinal Rugambwa emphasized that unity and cooperation are essential for addressing national challenges.
“We are all children of one Father. Let us sit together and work collectively on matters of peace, justice, love, and collaboration. Unity, a core national value, must be preserved, and dialogue among citizens is essential when facing crises,” he said.
The Cardinal highlighted that praying for peace aligns with the guidance of Pope Leo, who has encouraged interfaith collaboration through shared prayer.
Such practices, he said, strengthen mutual trust, reinforce social cohesion, and cultivate harmony among communities.
His remarks underscore the critical role of religious leaders in fostering stability and guiding citizens toward constructive engagement during politically sensitive periods. As Tanzania heads into the elections, Cardinal Rugambwa’s message reflects a broader call for faith, unity, and responsible civic participation.
