Bishop Mwankuga calls on Tanzanians to respect voters’ choices and uphold peace

By The Respondents Reporter

Bishop Lawi Mwankuga of the Moravian Church, Eastern Diocese, has called on all Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers to vote in tomorrow’s general election, urging citizens to uphold peace and stability across the country.

He stressed that while elections are a significant event, life and national unity must continue beyond the ballot.

Speaking today, Tuesday, October 28, shortly after political parties concluded their campaigns, Bishop Mwankuga urged politicians competing for leadership positions to prioritize the welfare of Tanzanians over personal interests.

He encouraged candidates to deliver on promises that genuinely advance the country’s development, whether at the local, parliamentary, or presidential level.

The bishop emphasized the importance of electing leaders with sincere commitment to national development, regardless of their political affiliation.

He urged citizens to make informed choices and to respect the outcomes of the election, noting that these decisions will shape leadership for the next five years until the subsequent elections in 2030.

Bishop Mwankuga also praised Tanzanians for actively registering to vote and verifying their information, highlighting the role of responsible civic engagement in strengthening democracy.

He called on government authorities to respect voters’ decisions and ensure a transparent and peaceful electoral process.
