DAR ES SALAAM – Young Africans SC (Yanga) has underlined its determination to reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League as part of its broader ambition to compete effectively at the continental level.

The team departed for Angola yesterday morning, where they will face Wiliete on September 19 in the preliminary round of Africa’s premier club competition.

Yanga’s Media and Communications Officer, Ally Kamwe, said the club has prepared thoroughly to ensure better results compared to previous seasons.

“Our priority this year is to qualify for the group stage. In past campaigns, we fell short of expectations, but under the leadership of President Hersi Said, we are determined to achieve this milestone,” he said.

Kamwe added that while the ultimate ambition is to secure international silverware, the immediate focus remains on navigating the preliminary rounds successfully.

The squad will, however, be without striker Andy Boyeli, who is sidelined with injury, along with several others omitted for technical reasons.
