The Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga) has officially launched a new branch of its NSSF Yanga Family, marking a major milestone in the club’s development agenda ahead of the Mwanchi Week festival, set for Friday, September 12, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the launch, Yanga Club President Eng. Hersi Saidi praised members for establishing the branch, describing it as a critical step in promoting the club’s broader vision, particularly by involving educated and skilled professionals.
“Through this branch, members will bring positive ideas to the club’s General Assembly via NSSF representatives. I urge you to use your knowledge and expertise to support the club, especially through investment initiatives,” Eng. Hersi said.
He added a personal note, recalling his early career: “I am delighted to join you today, my NSSF family, in launching this branch. A little secret when I was starting out, I worked with NSSF in Morogoro for a year. Today feels like I am back home. Congratulations to all of you.”
Ibrahim Samwel, Director of Branches, Members, and Marketing, highlighted that Eng. Hersi has been instrumental in strengthening the club’s membership registration system.
He emphasized that members’ timely payment of fees is vital for the club’s growth and financial sustainability.
“Funds cannot grow if members fail to pay their dues. The club’s progress depends on our collective commitment to timely contributions,” Samwel said.
He noted that the new branch is part of a wider trend where government institutions are formalizing member branches, providing a model for improved accountability and revenue collection.
Samwel further explained that the system is expected to boost the club’s revenue, with Yanga targeting TZS 12 billion to meet its 2025/2026 budget requirements.
