Brandy Nelson, CCM candidate for Mwasanga Ward in Mbeya City Council, has promised to improve local road infrastructure if elected, citing the challenges faced by women vendors who sell leafy vegetables in the area.
Brandy made the pledge during the launch of his councilor campaign, which was attended by special guest Dr. Tulia Ackson, CCM parliamentary candidate for Uyole Constituency.
He acknowledged progress in the ward, including the completion of the Dr. Tulia Bridge, which has made access easier.
However, Brandy noted that some internal roads, especially those leading to Isoso Street, remain in poor condition, forcing women vendors to walk long distances to markets daily.
“These women should be able to use motorbikes to reach the market, rather than walking long distances every day. Improving these roads will make life easier for them and reduce the physical strain they face,” he said.
Brandy also thanked Dr. Tulia Ackson for facilitating health insurance for the elderly and supporting low-income households, with many residents of Mwasanga benefiting from these initiatives.
Dr. Tulia Ackson urged residents to vote for CCM candidates, highlighting the party’s achievements in Mbeya City Council, including the ongoing four-lane road project, the Dr. Tulia Bridge, improved school facilities, health centers, and broader educational infrastructure.
She encouraged voters to support Brandy for councilor, herself for parliament, and President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, stressing that aligned leadership ensures smoother project implementation.
