Tanzania has intensified efforts to showcase its energy sector to the international community during the ongoing World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, as the country seeks to draw more investments into electricity, oil, and gas.

From September 17 to 28, Tanzania is using its pavilion to highlight a wide range of opportunities in the sector, with the aim of promoting strategic projects and building partnerships with global players.

Key government institutions under the Ministry of Energy are participating in the programme. They include the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), the Rural Energy Agency (REA), the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), and the Electrical Transmission and Distribution Construction and Maintenance Company (ETDCO).

Alongside presenting strategic projects, the institutions are engaging in direct meetings with potential investors and partners through business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-business (G2B) sessions.

They will also conduct study visits to Japanese energy production and distribution companies and tour other country pavilions to exchange knowledge and experiences.

The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) is coordinating the country’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, which opened on April 13 and will close on October 13, 2025.

Officials say the event offers a unique platform for Tanzania to expand its global visibility and attract long-term investment into one of its fastest-growing sectors.
