The Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), Dr. Latifa Khamis, has praised participants of the 8th Geita Mining Technology Exhibition for showcasing innovation and solutions that strengthen Tanzania’s industrial and mining value chains.
Dr. Latifa, who toured the Samia Grounds on September 20, was accompanied by Geita Regional Commissioner Martin Shigella.
The two leaders engaged with exhibitors, including entrepreneurs in mining services, artisanal industries, and local manufacturers. They inspected technologies and products designed to boost efficiency and competitiveness in the sector.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Latifa underscored the role of trade exhibitions in positioning Tanzania for regional and global markets. She said the Geita fair demonstrates how creativity and technology can help Tanzanians embrace local content, reduce import dependence, and expand participation in cross-border trade.
“The innovations on display here reflect the potential of our people. Platforms like this not only open business opportunities but also encourage the use of local goods in wider markets,” she noted.
Mr. Shigella commended TanTrade for coordinating the participation of both institutions and small businesses. He urged the public to take advantage of the exhibition, describing it as a hub for economic learning, technology transfer, and investment linkages.
The annual fair has become one of the country’s most important events for connecting mining stakeholders, fostering entrepreneurship, and promoting sustainable industrial growth.
