TANAPA subsidiary TIL tipped to drive infrastructure and revenue growth

By Edmund Salaho, Arusha

Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) is positioning its subsidiary, TANAPA Investment Ltd (TIL), as a key vehicle for infrastructure delivery and revenue diversification to sustain conservation and tourism services.

Formed in 2019, TIL has been carrying out projects such as road rehabilitation in Arusha and Serengeti national parks, as well as gravel road maintenance in Arusha City.

The company was established to speed up TANAPA’s infrastructure projects while generating additional income through external contracts.

TANAPA Commissioner for Conservation, CPA Musa Nassoro Kuji, said the subsidiary is central to the agency’s future.

“The Board of Trustees has placed high expectations on TIL. It must deliver with professionalism, innovation, and efficiency to achieve its founding purpose,” he told staff in Arusha on Thursday.

He noted that the subsidiary’s work in improving park roads is directly tied to tourist mobility and the quality of conservation operations.

TIL Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Dr. Richard Matolo, pledged stronger performance, saying the company was committed to meeting the targets set by the Board.

“We are determined to accelerate delivery and expand our portfolio in line with TANAPA’s vision,” he said.

Observers say TIL’s dual mandate serving TANAPA’s internal needs while competing for external projects positions it as both a service provider and an income-generating arm at a time when demand for reliable infrastructure in tourism and conservation is rising.
