The Tanzanian national football team, Taifa Stars, has officially entered camp today as preparations ramp up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
The team is set to travel to Congo tomorrow to face Congo Brazzaville on September 5, before returning home to Zanzibar to host Niger at the Amaan Complex on September 9.
Head coach Hemed Seleiman, widely known as “Morocco,” said the team is focused on delivering strong performances and securing a place in the next stage of the qualifiers.
“We have a real opportunity to advance, and our job is to fight hard and ensure we achieve positive results in our matches,” Seleiman said.
The 23-man squad features top players including Yakoub Suleimani, Wilson Nangu (JKT Tanzania), Antony Remmy, Abdul Hamis, Pascal Msindo, Yahya Zaidi, Feisal Salum, Iddy Suleiman (Azam), Shomari Kapombe, Suleiman Mwalimu, and Yusuph Kagoma (Simba).
Other members include Mohamed Hussein, Ibrahim Abdullah, Edmund John, Mudathir Yahya (Young Africans), Hussein Masaranga (Singida Big Stars), Novatus Dismas (Coztepe FC, Turkey), Charles M’mombwa (Floriana FC, Malta), Mbwana Samata (Le Havre AC, France), and Saimon Msuva (Al-Talaba SC, Iraq).
The camp will focus on tactical drills, building team cohesion, and match readiness as the Taifa Stars aim for a successful qualifying campaign.
