The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Advocate Amon Mpanju, has called for strong collaboration among government ministries, religious institutions, communities, and development partners to advance parenting initiatives.

Speaking at the launch of a pilot training session for facilitators of parenting groups in Dodoma on September 29, 2025, Advocate Mpanju said the initiative aims to test and refine a new guide designed to support parents and caregivers in promoting positive parenting, child protection, nutrition, and maternal and child health.

“This guide is designed to empower parents and caregivers with practical knowledge on positive parenting. It will also strengthen facilitators’ skills at all levels of the community,” he said.

He urged participants to make full use of the guide and the new Parenting Collection Tool to enhance parenting groups and spread awareness on positive parenting throughout society.

Sebastian Kitiku, Director of the Child Development Department, said the guide aligns with the national vision of ensuring that every parent or caregiver has access to proper parenting guidance. He added that its simple, practical approach works even in rural areas, helping reduce disparities in parenting education across the country.

Participants pledged to apply the knowledge gained from the training to establish or strengthen parenting and caregiver groups in their communities, ensuring children are raised in safe and nurturing environments.
