Small Enterprise Supplier Development Corporation (SESDCorp) has concluded a two-day capacity-building program aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tanzania.

Held on September 3rd and 4th at the Industry Enhancement Centre (IEC), the training, known as the "Bridge Local Supplier Development Program," is designed to equip local businesses with the skills needed to compete for procurement opportunities in both the private and public sectors.

The program is a key component of Schneider Electric’s local content commitment to the government and people of Tanzania, specifically for the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project, where the global company is a major contractor.

SESDCorp was appointed by Schneider Electric to deliver the training as part of this commitment.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Killian Nango, CEO of SESDCorp, expressed his gratitude for the partnership.

"We are very excited with the trust bestowed upon us by Schneider Electric to build the capacity of the SMEs selected for this program," he stated.

He added, "SESDCorp believes these SMEs will benefit immensely from the training, which is also expected to match them with relevant procurement opportunities."

A representative from Schneider Electric echoed this sentiment, highlighting the company’s dedication to the country.

"We are happy with this ongoing training as it is a testament to our commitment to the Government of Tanzania through the EACOP project," the representative said. "We are proud to be associated with SESDCorp to deliver these crucial trainings through IEC."

The initiative is seen as a significant step towards integrating local businesses into major value chains, ensuring that large-scale infrastructure projects like EACOP contribute to the long-term growth and competitiveness of the Tanzanian economy.
