The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of major education projects worth over TZS 70 billion currently under construction in Temeke District.
During an inspection tour at the site of the new Mwembe Bamia Secondary School, RC Chalamila commended the Temeke Municipal Council for undertaking the ambitious projects using internal funds.
He said the decision, though tough, reflects the government’s strong commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens through education and health investments.
He urged residents to continue supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts in expanding access to education, emphasizing that the ultimate goal is to ensure every school-age child has the opportunity to study.
He further recommended that future school and hospital projects be constructed in multi-storey designs due to the scarcity of land in urban areas.
“These projects are financed through funds released by the President, which come from Tanzanians themselves and additional sources she has tirelessly secured. It is a demonstration of her dedication to serving the people,” Chalamila said while summing up his tour.
The Regional Commissioner also used the occasion to remind citizens of the importance of participating in the upcoming General Election scheduled for October 29, 2025, saying it is a democratic opportunity to elect leaders who will steer Tanzania forward for the next five years.
Local residents expressed their appreciation for the government’s initiative. Nasoro Sultani Matope, a resident of Mwembe Bamia, praised the new school projects, saying they will ease the burden on children who previously had to walk long distances to access education.
