Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa today called on government drivers across Tanzania to prioritize road safety and uphold professional responsibility, during the opening of the Fourth Congress of the Tanzania Government Drivers’ Association at the Jakaya Kikwete Conference Center in Dodoma.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister emphasized the critical role drivers play in preventing accidents and protecting both government vehicles and fellow road users.
“Your work is vital not only for the smooth running of government operations but also for the safety of everyone on our roads,” he said.
The congress, themed “Government Drivers: Avoid Accidents, Protect Your Vehicle and Other Road Users; Participate in the October General Election,” also encourages drivers to engage in civic duties ahead of the upcoming national elections.
Participants are reminded that their influence extends beyond driving, contributing to a responsible and law-abiding society.
The association’s gathering provides a platform for drivers to share experiences, discuss safety measures, and receive updates on regulations and best practices in public service driving.
Officials highlighted past achievements, including a reduction in traffic incidents among government vehicles and the promotion of disciplined, professional conduct on Tanzanian roads.
By combining road safety awareness with civic participation, the event underscores the broader responsibilities of government drivers, urging them to lead by example both on the road and in the community.
