Persons with disabilities encouraged to join Table Tennis training in Dar es Salaam

Persons with disabilities in Tanzania have been invited to take part in a specialized table tennis training program set to run from September 18 to 25 at Shaban Robert Secondary School Hall in Dar es Salaam.

The training, organized by the World Parasports Institute in collaboration with the Tanzania Table Tennis Association (TTTA), aims to nurture talent and prepare participants for future international competitions.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Mosses Manula, Director of the institute, said the program seeks 16 participants, of whom 10 have already registered.

“There are still places available for anyone with a passion for the sport, whether you are new to table tennis or already have some experience,” he said.

The training will be led by international coach ITTF-PTT Mian Absar Ali from Pakistan, who will guide participants in improving their skills and understanding the technical aspects of the game.

“The program is specifically designed for persons with disabilities. For those eager to learn and showcase their talent, this is a valuable opportunity. It also serves as preparation for international events,” Manula explained.

The training has broader goals beyond sports. Participants will gain knowledge about living with a disability, life skills, and professional table tennis techniques.

They will also learn about classification and ranking procedures, key for competing in global events such as the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, USA.

Manula encouraged all interested individuals to register and take advantage of this opportunity to develop their skills and represent Tanzania on the international stage.
