NLD builds grassroots momentum ahead of Lake Zone campaign

The National League for Democracy (NLD) has wrapped up its campaign activities in the Northern Zone, including Tanga, Babati, and Arusha, successfully holding over 45 village- and ward-level meetings.

The party’s approach has focused on reaching voters directly in their communities, a strategy that distinguishes it from other presidential contenders.

NLD’s presidential candidate, Doyo, personally visited remote areas such as Jasini, Mkinga, Msomela, Handeni, and Mlalo in Lushoto district.

By engaging citizens face-to-face, the party ensures that voters understand its policies and manifesto while feeling valued and included in the political process.

Evaluations suggest that among the 16 presidential candidates, Doyo is one of the few to maintain such direct rural engagement.

“The success of our mobile campaign demonstrates that citizens appreciate being reached where they live. It strengthens trust and allows for meaningful dialogue on issues affecting their daily lives,” said a senior NLD official.

Following the positive reception in the Northern Zone, NLD is now turning its attention to the Lake Zone, targeting Mara, Mwanza, Geita, and Bukoba.

The party intends to continue its hands-on strategy, listening closely to voter concerns and addressing challenges at the community level.

Political analysts note that NLD’s focus on rural outreach could set a new standard for voter engagement in Tanzania, reinforcing the party’s image as inclusive, accessible, and responsive to citizen needs.
