The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) is enhancing water infrastructure in Sendui and Irkeepusi villages to improve access for wildlife, livestock, and local communities.
Through its Community Development and Engineering Services departments, the authority is rehabilitating a livestock watering trough in Sendui village and upgrading a 140,000-litre water storage tank at Nainokanoka Secondary School.
The projects aim to benefit students, residents, and the surrounding ecosystems.
The Sendui water trough serves the villages of Sendui, Alailelai, and Bulati, while the upgraded tank at Nainokanoka Secondary School will support Irkeepusi village, Irkeepusi Primary School, Lemala Gate, and nearby hotels in the Lemala area.
NCAA specialists conducted technical assessments to guide the rehabilitation and construction work, ensuring sustainable management of the water resources.
In addition to infrastructure improvements, NCAA teams are working with community leaders to educate residents on maintaining water facilities, ensuring long-term benefits for both people and wildlife in the conservation area.
These initiatives reflect NCAA’s ongoing commitment to balancing human needs with environmental conservation in one of Tanzania’s most ecologically significant regions.
