The 2025 Mkwawa Rally Festival concluded yesterday, September 21, in Morogoro, ending three days of intense racing that brought together 20 drivers from across Africa and beyond.
The event, part of the African Rally Championship (ARC), began on September 19 and quickly captured the attention of motorsport enthusiasts nationwide.
Ahmed Huwel Mkwawa, Director of Mkwawa Group and the main sponsor of the rally, delivered a standout performance, finishing third overall.
He also secured top positions in several other categories, a feat that drew applause from fans and stakeholders alike.
Speaking after receiving his awards, Mkwawa said the results underscored his commitment to developing motorsport in Tanzania and raising the country’s profile in Africa.
“These competitions are not only entertainment but also a platform to nurture new talent and promote Tanzania internationally through sports,” he said.
This year’s festival was marked by strong competition, meticulous organization, and participation from experienced drivers from multiple countries.
The combination of high-calibre racing and vibrant fan engagement has further strengthened Tanzania’s reputation in the African motorsport arena.
Organizers said the festival also aims to inspire young Tanzanians to explore careers in motorsport and related industries.
With growing interest and participation each year, the Mkwawa Rally Festival is positioning itself as a key event in Africa’s rally calendar.
