Dr. Latifa Mohamed Khamis, Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), has urged local manufacturers and service providers to fully embrace the “Made in Tanzania” label as a key tool to showcase the quality and competitiveness of their products in international markets.

Speaking at the 8th Mining Technology Expo at Samia Grounds in Geita, Dr. Latifa said the label is more than a mark of origin; it is a national symbol that adds value to products, builds consumer confidence, and enhances the ability of Tanzanian goods to compete in regional and global markets.

“Local businesses should use the ‘Made in Tanzania’ logo as a strategic instrument to position their products globally. It signals quality, reliability, and national pride,” she said.

Dr. Latifa also officially invited all producers to participate in next year’s 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) at Julius Nyerere Grounds in Dar es Salaam.

She described the fair as a key platform for businesses to expand their networks, explore new markets, and promote their brands to a wider audience.

The remarks come as Tanzania continues to strengthen its trade agenda, encouraging local industries to innovate and meet international standards.

Experts note that the “Made in Tanzania” initiative has been instrumental in helping domestic products gain recognition beyond the country’s borders, contributing to growth in exports and boosting investor confidence.

The Geita Mining Technology Expo, now in its eighth edition, brings together stakeholders from the mining and industrial sectors to showcase innovations, exchange knowledge, and explore partnerships that support economic growth and sustainable development.
