Hungary’s Foreign Minister visits Tanzania to boost diplomatic and economic ties

Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, arrived in Tanzania today for a one-day official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, Minister Szijjártó was welcomed by Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Cosato Chumi, alongside senior government officials.

During the visit, the two countries will witness the signing of several strategic agreements, including a bilateral government deal on a water supply project in Biharamulo District, Kagera Region. 

Additional agreements include a memorandum of understanding between Hungary’s MeOut Company and Tanzania’s Digital Innovation Hub on innovation initiatives, as well as a partnership agreement between MeOut and the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.

Minister Szijjártó will also hold private talks with Tanzania’s Foreign Minister, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, followed by a joint press briefing.

 Together, they will inaugurate the Dar es Salaam office of the Hungarian Embassy, expanding Hungary’s diplomatic presence in the region.

This marks Minister Szijjártó’s second visit to Tanzania, following his initial trip in March 2024, underscoring the growing collaboration between the two nations.
