Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Hassan Abbasi, has urged the management of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) to uphold strict accountability while advancing conservation, tourism, and community development.
Dr Abbasi made the call on September 18, 2025, during his official visit to the authority in Arusha Region, where he inspected ongoing projects, including the construction of the Geological Museum and the new headquarters office building.
He stressed that public servants must deliver their duties with diligence and integrity, ensuring their work contributes to the country’s development goals.
“Every officer has a duty to work with commitment and knowledge to bring tangible results for the nation. Supervise your teams effectively to safeguard natural resources, promote tourism, and foster community development in line with the government’s vision,” Dr Abbasi told the management team.
For his part, the Deputy Commissioner of the NCAA in charge of conservation, tourism, and community development, Joas Makwati, said the authority is committed to enhancing services.
He noted that plans are in place to scale up conservation efforts, strengthen tourism promotion, and invest in initiatives that uplift the wellbeing of local communities.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is among Tanzania’s most important tourism and conservation destinations, balancing environmental protection with the livelihoods of communities who live within and around the protected landscape.
