UVCCM Deputy National Chairperson Rehema Sombi Omary (MNEC) has emphasized the importance of expanding opportunities for young people through education, skills development, employment and economic empowerment.

Sombi made the remarks while attending the 2026 National Youth Week Conference, which brought together stakeholders to discuss ways of improving opportunities for young people across different environments.

She highlighted the need to ensure that young people have access to the resources and support necessary to develop their talents, acquire practical skills and participate meaningfully in economic activities.

Sombi also commended President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, and Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi for prioritising youth development.

She further praised the Ministry of Youth Development for its efforts to implement the CCM Election Manifesto, particularly in advancing initiatives aimed at addressing young people's needs and aspirations.

The conference was held under the theme, “Different Environments, Equal Opportunities for Young People,” which underscores the importance of ensuring that young people have fair access to development opportunities regardless of their circumstances.

The discussions highlighted the need for continued collaboration among the government, institutions and other stakeholders to create an environment in which young people can gain relevant skills, access employment and contribute to national development.
