Yanga SC sign Frank Assinki amid foreign player registration limit concerns

Yanga SC has completed the signing of former Singida Black Stars defender Frank Assinki, a move aimed at bolstering the squad’s options, particularly at right-back.

The signing comes amid concerns over the club’s foreign player registration limit.

Right-back Kouassi Yao, who played only seven matches last season for a total of 538 minutes, has been the primary target for reinforcement following injury setbacks.

League rules allow a maximum of 12 foreign players per club. Yanga, however, currently has 13 foreigners on its roster: Dijigui Diarra, Chadrack Boka, Assinki, Duke Abuya, Mohamed Doumbia, Célestin Ecua, Andy Boyeli, Prince Dube, Maxi Nzengeli, Lassane Kouma, Mousa Balla, Pacome Zouzoua, and Kouassi Yao.

The club previously faced a similar situation with Yacouba Songne, who was sidelined for an extended period due to injury before being loaned out to regain fitness, yet he never rejoined Yanga’s first team.

Despite the roster challenge, Yanga remains confident in Kouassi Yao’s abilities and has no plans to release him from the club at this stage.
