The United Democratic Party (UDP) presidential candidate, Saum Hussein Rashid, officially collected his nomination forms for the 2025 general election today, August 15, 2025. He was accompanied by his running mate, Juma Khamis Faki.
The forms were handed over by the Chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Justice of the Court of Appeal Jacobs Mwambegele.
INEC’s Election Director, Mr. Ramadhani Kailima, guided the candidates on proper procedures, including signing the official nomination book.
Rashid and his running mate completed the formalities in the presence of UDP members and INEC officials, ahead of the Commission’s scheduled candidate verification on August 27, 2025.
After submitting the forms, Rashid addressed journalists, emphasizing the party’s readiness to participate in the upcoming elections and pledging to engage voters across the country.
The event drew a large gathering of UDP members, who witnessed the submission process at the INEC offices.
