The Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) secured third place in the military group category at the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition held in the Western Zone, underscoring its role in promoting sustainable forest and beekeeping resource management.
The event took place on August 8, 2025, at the Ipuli Exhibition Grounds in Tabora. TFS received a trophy and certificate, with the Prison Services awarded first place.
TFS Western Zone Commander Bakari Mohamed said the award reflected the agency’s teamwork and efforts to deliver educational content on forest conservation to local communities.
“The achievement motivates us to improve our services and highlights the strategic importance of forests in national development,” Bakari said.
The Nanenane Exhibition covers the Kigoma and Tabora regions, bringing together government and private institutions engaged in agriculture, livestock, forestry, beekeeping, trade, and research.
Simon Nyakoro Sirro, retired Inspector General of Police and Regional Commissioner of Kigoma, visited the TFS pavilion as guest of honor and commended the agency’s contribution to forest and wildlife conservation.
Sirro emphasized the importance of the forestry sector for social, economic, and diplomatic development, calling on TFS staff to maintain innovation and professionalism.
He outlined four priorities for the agency: public education on legal trade of forest and bee products, collaboration with police for resource protection amid ranger shortages, simplification of forestry laws for public understanding, and adoption of new technologies and methods to meet national and international conservation goals.
Commander Bakari said TFS would implement the directives in partnership with other government agencies and continue supporting environmental development, eco-tourism, and sustainable revenue generation.
