Former Prime Minister, Mizengo Pinda visited the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) pavilion at the ongoing 2025 Nane Nane National Exhibition held at Nzuguni Grounds, Dodoma.
The exhibition, a major event that highlights Tanzania’s progress in agriculture and industry, is scheduled to conclude on August 8.
At the pavilion, Yahya Mudhihir, NSSF Dodoma Regional Manager, explained how the Fund has improved service delivery by adopting digital systems.
The systems allow members to access services such as registration, contribution payments, and benefit claims without visiting NSSF offices, enhancing convenience and transparency.
The shift towards digital services is an important step for NSSF as it aims to reach more Tanzanians, especially those in rural and informal sectors, who have traditionally faced barriers in accessing social security.
Mudhihir also noted that NSSF’s presence at Nane Nane focuses on educating visitors about the importance of social security, the registration process for private and self-employed workers, and opportunities for investing in housing and land projects through the Fund.
In addition, the Fund highlighted its role in fighting corruption and promoting good governance through its digital platforms.
A key point during the visit was NSSF’s strategic investment in the Mkulazi Sugar Factory, a public-private partnership with the Tanzania Prisons Service.
This project illustrates how social security funds are diversifying investments into productive sectors that support Tanzania’s industrialization agenda.
Pinda praised the investment, calling it a positive example of how government institutions can use their resources to stimulate economic growth and improve livelihoods.
The visit underscores the evolving role of NSSF, not just as a provider of social protection, but as a contributor to Tanzania’s broader economic development.
