The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has garnered commendations from tourism stakeholders in Zanzibar following its inaugural participation in the 9th Agriculture Expo held at Dole Grounds.

Utilizing this prestigious platform, TANAPA effectively promoted the country’s national parks, highlighted investment opportunities, and provided vital conservation education to the public.

The TANAPA exhibition booth attracted a large number of visitors, including students and local residents, eager to learn about the critical role of conservation and tourism in Tanzania’s sustainable development.

Many expressed admiration for the innovative digital tools and interactive displays presented by the authority, which enhanced engagement and understanding.

Speaking during the event, TANAPA’s Assistant Commissioner for Conservation and Head of the Liaison Office in Zanzibar, Dr. Halima Kiwango, described the participation as a historic moment for the organization on the islands.

She noted the overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees, particularly the youth, who demonstrated enthusiasm and a commitment to becoming conservation ambassadors.

“We have received encouraging feedback from the community. The youth’s eagerness to champion conservation efforts is a promising indicator for the future of our natural heritage,” Dr. Kiwango remarked.

Echoing this sentiment, the Expo Coordinator from the Zanzibar Ministry of Agriculture, Ms. Ruzuna Rajabu Nassor, praised TANAPA’s creative approach to public education.

She singled out the authority’s digital engagement initiatives as exemplary, setting a benchmark for other institutions in delivering conservation awareness in an accessible and appealing manner.

“TANAPA’s presence brought a dynamic and innovative dimension to this year’s expo. Their use of digital technology in educating the public is truly commendable and worthy of emulation,” Ms. Nassor stated.

Students who visited the TANAPA booth reported gaining new insights into how conservation supports national progress through domestic tourism and expressed readiness to share this knowledge with peers who were unable to attend.

TANAPA remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding conservation education nationwide, working collaboratively with development partners, local communities, and educational institutions. These efforts align with Tanzania’s national agenda to safeguard its natural heritage while promoting it on a global stage.
