The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the schedule for 14 political parties to collect nomination forms for their presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the upcoming 2025 General Election. The process will commence tomorrow, August 9, 2025.
Speaking in Dodoma today, August 8, 2025, INEC Director Kailima Ramadhani named the first parties set to collect forms on August 9: Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), National Reconstruction Alliance (NRA), and the Alliance for African Farmers Party (AAFP).
“As of today, August 8, 2025, we have received letters from 14 political parties specifying the dates and times when their nominated candidates for president and vice president will visit the Commission offices located in Njedengwa, Dodoma, to collect nomination forms,” Mr. Kailima said.
Other parties and their scheduled dates for collecting nomination forms include: MAKINI Party, National League for Democracy (NLD), and United Peoples’ Democratic Party (UPDP) on August 10; African Democratic Alliance Party (ADA – TADEA), Union for Multiparty Democracy (UMD), and Tanzania Labour Party (TLP) on August 11; Chama Cha Kijamii (CCK), Chama cha Ukombozi wa Umma (CHAUMMA), and Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC) on August 12; Democratic Party (DP) on August 13; and National Convention for Construction and Reform (NCCR – MAGEUZI) on August 15, 2025.
Mr. Kailima confirmed that INEC has officially notified all these parties of the schedule.
“It is important to note that this schedule applies only to the 14 parties that have submitted their information by August 8, 2025. Should other parties come forward later, we will prepare and communicate the appropriate schedule accordingly,” he explained.
He commended all political parties for their ongoing preparations for the 2025 General Election and emphasized that INEC will ensure adherence to the constitution, laws, and electoral regulations throughout the entire election process.
