Baraka Elias Sulus, a High Court advocate, Commissioner for Oaths, and Notary Public, has laid out a nine-point plan he intends to implement if elected Vice President of the Tanzania Athletics Federation (RT).
The federation will hold its general elections for new executive committee members on August 16 in Mwanza.
Campaigning for the post, Sulus pledged to promote transparency in contracts between RT, regional associations, and athletes; revive national championships; and restore track and field events nationwide.
He also vowed to ensure that every region regularly stages athletics competitions in partnership with RT.
His other priorities include protecting athletes’ rights through legal mechanisms, building stronger ties with regional athletics leaders, and improving operational infrastructure to spur athletics development across the country.
Sulus also committed to working closely with the RT Executive Committee on strategic planning, effective implementation, and strict adherence to competition calendars issued by RT, the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), and World Athletics (WA).
He further promised to involve former star athletes in mentoring young talent, while fostering cooperation with the Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC), the National Sports Council (BMT), and the government in advancing sports policies particularly those related to athletics.
Sulus aims to work with local authorities to embed athletics in early childhood, primary, and secondary education, creating a pipeline of new talent.
He also plans to collaborate with public institutions, private partners, and higher learning institutions to strengthen athletics nationwide.
“I will use my education and professional experience to serve the broader interests of our country, guided by a clear vision and constructive goals,” Sulus said.
