Livestock owners in Mbeya have been urged to vaccinate their animals and fully cooperate with ward-level veterinary officers to ensure a smooth and successful vaccination campaign.

The call was made on August 18, 2025, by Dinday Njile, Acting Executive Director of Mbeya District Council, who represented the Council Director during the launch of the campaign.

Njile emphasized that all livestock owners should allow veterinary officers to access their herds and provide support during the exercise to prevent any delays or challenges.

“The campaign to vaccinate cattle against lung disease started today in Mjele Ward, Chang’lombe Village. We urge all livestock owners to take part and protect their animals,” he said.

He reassured livestock owners that the campaign will continue for the next five years, and there is no cause for concern.

Njile also noted that the government is addressing the challenges faced by livestock owners to support the growth of the sector.

A livestock owner in Mjele Ward highlighted the importance of education on vaccinations. “Many of us know the benefits of vaccinating our animals, but we should also educate fellow farmers who have less knowledge. Sharing information ensures everyone benefits,” he said.
