How TADB sparks agricultural transformation through affordable loans

By Our Correspondent, Dodoma

The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has played a key role in supporting the government’s efforts to transform the agricultural sector through affordable financing for small- and medium-scale farmers.

Speaking during the official opening of the national NaneNane exhibitions in Dodoma on August 1, 2025, TADB Managing Director, Mr. Frank Nyabundege, said the bank has disbursed more than TZS 1.13 trillion in loans since 2015.

The funding has supported over 1.95 million farmers across the country.

“TADB is more than a bank. It is a driver of production, a bridge to development, and a source of hope for Tanzanian farmers,” said Mr. Nyabundege, as he briefed Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango during his visit to the bank’s pavilion.

The bank is the main sponsor of this year’s NaneNane National Agricultural Exhibition, which was officially opened by the Vice President.

TADB is also marking its 10th anniversary this year. Over the past decade, the bank has expanded its reach and impact, becoming one of the key financial institutions supporting agricultural growth in Tanzania.

According to Mr. Nyabundege, TADB’s contribution reflects the government’s broader agenda of boosting food security, increasing productivity, and turning agriculture into a competitive and modern economic sector.
