Finance Ministry urges citizens to explore tax exemption benefits at Nane Nane Fair

The Ministry of Finance has called on members of the public especially those engaged in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries to visit its pavilion at the ongoing Nane Nane National Agricultural Exhibition in Nzuguni Grounds, Dodoma, to access vital education on government-approved tax exemptions that support growth in key production sectors.

Mr. Fronto Furaha, Financial Management Officer from the Ministry’s Department of Financial Analysis, issued the appeal while addressing visitors at the pavilion.

He said the initiative aims to equip citizens with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities within the national tax system and raise awareness of the opportunities available through tax relief schemes.

“We are encouraging all Tanzanians, particularly farmers, livestock keepers, and fishers, to take this opportunity to learn about the range of tax exemptions in place, who qualifies, the conditions for accessing them, and the procedures to follow,” said Mr. Furaha.

He explained that these exemptions are part of the government’s strategy to stimulate investment and productivity in agriculture and related sectors—key contributors to national development and poverty reduction.

“There is still a misconception that tax exemptions are reserved for privileged individuals. We want to clear that up. These exemptions are governed by transparent regulations, and any eligible citizen or investor who follows the required procedures can benefit,” he added.

Mr. Furaha cited examples of tax-exempt items including agricultural inputs, crop-processing machinery, pesticides, fishing gear, and livestock handling equipment—components that directly enhance sectoral performance and contribute to economic growth.

“These measures are deliberate efforts to make farming, livestock rearing, and fishing more sustainable, affordable, and attractive, especially for small-scale producers,” he said.

Some of the citizens who visited the Ministry’s pavilion expressed their appreciation for the information provided, saying it has helped them understand how they can legally access tax exemptions and contribute to national revenue through proper compliance.

The Ministry of Finance reiterated its commitment to continuous public engagement, pledging to expand outreach through exhibitions, public seminars, and community forums aimed at increasing transparency and awareness of tax policies.

The Ministry and its agencies are participating in the Nane Nane National Agricultural Exhibition under the theme: “Choose Good Leaders for Sustainable Agricultural and Fisheries Development 2025.”

The exhibition runs through August 8, bringing together key stakeholders from across the country to promote innovation, policy awareness, and opportunities in the agricultural value chain.
