Deputy Permanent Secretaries from the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) have lauded the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) for expanding road access in rural areas, saying the improvements are unlocking economic opportunities for farmers, fishers, and livestock keepers.

The delegation, led by Engineer Rogatus Mativila (Deputy Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure), Sospeter Mtwale (Deputy Permanent Secretary for Administration and Human Resources), and Prof. Tumaini Nagu (Deputy Permanent Secretary for Health), visited TARURA’s pavilion during the peak of the Nane Nane Farmers’ Day exhibitions at Nzuguni grounds in Dodoma.

During the visit, TARURA’s Head of Public Relations and Communication, Catherine Sungura, presented detailed briefings on the agency’s mandate, current project implementation status, and strategic plans aimed at upgrading and expanding road infrastructure nationwide.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Mr. Mtwale commended TARURA’s commitment to opening and maintaining rural roads, noting that these efforts have significantly eased the transportation of agricultural products from farms to markets, thereby improving livelihoods for farmers, fishers, and pastoralists.

He further highlighted that improved rural roads have created employment opportunities for motorcycle taxi operators and other transport service providers, boosting local economies.

Mr. Mtwale urged TARURA to sustain its efforts in upgrading rural road networks to ensure year-round accessibility, stressing that reliable infrastructure is essential for inclusive and sustainable rural development.
